FAQ's for NLC Preschool in Spokane WA 

How old must my child be in order to enroll?
To be eligible for enrollment, your child must be at least three years old as of September 30th and must be toilet trained.

What are the hours?
8:55 AM -  12:15 daily

What days can my child attend and what's the tuition?
There are three sessions available;
2 days, Tues. & Thurs. (tuition $84.00 per month)
3 days, Mon., Wed., and Thurs. (tuition $126.00 per month)
5 days, Monday through Friday (tuition $210.00 per month)

Will children be given a Progress or Kindergarten Readiness Evaluation?
All older children in the school are given a school readiness evaluation in May before school ends. Younger children are given a progress evaluation.

What are the teachers' qualifications?
The qualifications vary with some teachers having as much as fifteen years experience, and/or a degree in Early Childhood Development or Elementary Education. Lesson plans are developed by the director who has a degree in Elementary Education with a major in music and a minor in science.

How do I know what's happening?
You will receive a "Unit Letter"at the beginning of each new unit. Parents may wish to extend the monthly theme at home. Also, contained in that letter will be any important dates to remember and upcoming special events.

Each month, in addition to music, art, and school activities, the children will be working on special Social Studies units. These are designed to help children:

1. Improve vocabulary and language development
2. Increase their self assurance and confidence
3. Awaken new interests and open doors to thinking and learning skills
4. Broaden awareness and understanding of themselves and others
5. Increase their understanding of the world around them
6. To encourage positive self concepts

Can I visit my child's class?
Parents are invited to visit any time they wish. There's is no need to make an appointment. We do ask that you keep the visit to less than an hour at any one time, as one parent's extended presence tends to disrupt the class and can cause problems for the other children. We also ask parents to refrain from visiting in the month of September as we are all adjusting to a new class environment.
